The CNA Exam Prep Program at Gabriel Health Institute is a 50-contact hour course designed to fully prepare students—regardless of prior experience—to confidently pass the Florida State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Exam, administered by Prometric.
This comprehensive program equips students with the knowledge and hands-on skills necessary for employment in a variety of healthcare settings, including acute care facilities, nursing homes, and extended care facilities. The program includes a clinical component conducted at local healthcare facilities, providing real-world experience under the supervision of skilled instructors.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to challenge the State Certified Nursing Assistant Examination and begin their careers in one of the most rewarding fields in healthcare.

Frequently Asked Questions about CNA Training and Certification
What are the requirements to become a CNA?
To become a Certified Nurse Assistant in Florida you must pass Prometric FL CNA State Exam. To be eligible for the exam you must be age 18 (or 17 with a high school diploma and parental consent), have a valid social security number, and have no felony convictions related to negligence, drugs, or fraud.
Do you need a high school diploma?
Only if you are 17 years old. If you are 18 years old or older, a high school diploma or GED is not required.
Can I use my license outside of Florida?
No. Each state has a unique certification process. You must contact the Board of Nursing in that state to obtain information regarding their process for certification. Some states do accept reciprocity from Florida making the transfer of your license easier.
Do you ever have to renew your CNA license?
Yes. Your Florida CNA license is good for 2 years. The Board of Nursing sends out renewal letters to your last known address. It is your responsibility to keep your address current with the Nursing Assistant Registry.

Are there any requirements for renewing my Florida CNA license?
Yes. You must have 12 hours per year of continuing education. In addition to that, you must have worked a minimum of 1 day (for pay) in the capacity of a nursing assistant or its equivalent.
Where do CNAs work?
CNAs work in a variety of healthcare settings in the state of Florida. Hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, doctors' offices, Alzheimer’s units, home health environments, etc.
How much does a CNA make in Central Florida?
Salaries for certified nursing assistants in Florida vary throughout different healthcare settings. There are several variables that influence wages. These variables would include the facility, shift, region, etc. The average pay for CNAs in Central Florida is between $10-14 per hour. However, it is not uncommon to see private duty CNA earn up to $18/hour.
Is the fee for the state exam included in Gabriel Health Institute tuition?
No. The fee for the state exam is not included in the tuition. Neither is the Livescan Fingerprint & Background Check Fee.
How can I register for the State CNA Exam?
You can get the application form online at www.prometric.com/nurseaide/fl . We recommend you submit the online version of the Prometric application and choose Gabriel Health Institute as your regional exam site. If you are already a GHI student, login to gabrielhealth.teachable.com and follow the step-by-step video instructions to complete the process. If you have trouble pass by the office so we can help you in person or call us at 407-777-9778 during business hours. Florida State Exam fees are NOT included in tuition.
Do you offer CPR or First Aid classes?
Yes. We offer CPR/BLS and First Aid classes every Friday at 10 am. We are double accredited by ASHI (American Safety & Health Institute) and AHA (American Heart Association). We accept walk-ins and no appointment is necessary.
Do you offer Livescan Fingerprint & Background Checks?
Yes. We offer Livescan Fingerprint & Background Checks (aka FBI Screening) in our office between 10 am - 4 pm, Monday - Friday. We accept walk-ins and no appointment is necessary. Service cost $100 and lasts for 5 years.
What are the fees for the Florida State Exam?
Test fees are $155
