Four Steps to Set Goals and Rock Your Career
In generations past, adults were consumed with the idea of having it all. The perfect house, the perfect career, the perfect family, the perfect social life. Luckily, today’s generation has flipped the tables and overworking yourself and having it all is no longer glorified.
So what’s in now? Focus on what you want most and streamline your path to your goals! Ahead of the new year, we are sharing steps to realizing the life you want– and getting there faster than ever.
1. Discover your true priorities.
Open your notes in your phone and freely jot down what is most important to you right now. Make sure these are all about today and all about you… let go of ideas that other people think you should be or what you wanted ten years ago. Come up with 3-5 things such as advancing your career, more time with your kids and a solid fitness routine.
2. Set goals.
Goals provide clarity and really allow for movement to happen. Below each true priority, make a list of specific things that need to happen to get there. For example, if you want to advance your career by becoming a certified nursing assistant (CNA), you will need to go to school, pass the state exam and find a new job. Be specific here. These mini goals will get you where you want to be!
3. Take care of yourself.
Always, always, always set aside time to take care of yourself. We even challenge you to schedule specific times during the week that you can focus on yourself, whether it be grabbing a meal with a friend or taking a long walk. Taking care of your personal needs will make you more prepared to take on your other goals, too.
4. Find ways to boost your productivity.
While we can’t give you more hours in the day, we can help you save time! Look for opportunities to support two goals at once. One way is to register for your CNA classes through Gabriel Health Institute. Not only do our classes only take one week with a guarantee that you will pass, but we offer free childcare while you take your classes. Seriously. Another example if you want to spend more time with your family and build a solid fitness routine is creating a family workout time! Use the kids as weights and get your cardio by running around a field with them.
